License Methods

Aquaveo offers flexible licensing options for your software so that you can work where and when you need to. Software may be enabled by three different methods including Password, Single-user USB Hardware Lock, and Network USB Hardware Lock.

For academic licensing options please contact Aquaveo for assistance

  • Password
  • Single-user USB Hardware Lock
  • Network USB Hardware Lock

A password (or license code) is the quickest way to get your software up and running. Unlike our other licensing options, passwords are free.

Important considerations about passwords:

  • A password enables only one machine and cannot be moved to another computer
  • Passwords enable the modules or components that you have purchased
  • Passwords contain information about the expiration of the license and it's maintenance
  • Passwords must be updated when software is upgraded to a new version
  • Passwords must be activated over the internet
  • Passwords may not be used with virtual machines, remote desktop, or on a server

Single-user USB hardware locks (or dongles) are our most popular licensing option. Hardware locks are simple devices that look like a USB memory key that enable software for use.

Important considerations about single-user USB hardware locks:

  • Single-user hardware locks enable the modules or components that you have purchased
  • Single-user hardware locks contain information about the expiration of the license and it's maintenance
  • Single-user hardware locks must be updated when software is upgraded to a new version
  • Single-user hardware locks may be updated remotely1 (over the internet) when a new version is released
  • Like passwords single-user hardware locks may not be used with virtual machines, remote desktop, or on a server
  • Single-user hardware locks are $95

1. Remote burning of hardware locks is not supported with a firewall or proxy server

Network USB hardware locks (or dongles) offer the flexibility of accessing a license over a user's local area network (LAN) but are not supported over a wide area network (WAN). Hardware locks are simple devices that look like a USB memory key that enable software for use.

Important considerations about network USB hardware locks:

  • Network hardware locks must be updated when software is upgraded to a new version
  • Network hardware locks enable the modules or components that you have purchased
  • Network hardware locks contain information about the expiration of the license and it's maintenance
  • The number of network users must be equal to the number of licenses owned (a 5-user Network hardware lock will enable five separate software licenses)
  • Network hardware locks may be updated remotely1 (over the internet) when a new version is released
  • Each network hardware lock will only enable one version and one configuration of the software
  • Network hardware locks may be used with virtual machines, remote desktop, or on a server
  • Network hardware locks vary in price based on the number of users accessing the licenses
  • 1-user Network Hardware Locks are $150
  • 2 to 5-user Network Hardware Locks are $190
  • 6 to 10-user Network Hardware Locks are $250
  • 25-user Network Hardware Locks are $300
  • 50-user Network Hardware Locks are $500

1. Remote burning of hardware locks is not supported with a firewall or proxy server
