There are three basic steps in the hardware lock installation process:
- Installing the hardware lock software
- Installing the lock itself
- Running the Enable Wizard
An explanation of each of these steps is outlined below.
NOTE – The hardware lock contains an electronic circuit board, so handle it with care throughout the installation process or at any time when it becomes necessary to transfer or handle the lock.
STEP 1:
Hardware Lock Software Installation
*The hardware lock should not be connected to your computer during this step*
You can download the latest drivers (Sentinel Protection Installer) for your hardware lock here.
Action:
- Download Sentinel Protection Installer executable from link above and run.
- Follow the prompts and when you get to the Setup Type Select Complete.
- Close any programs currently in use as you will have to restart your computer after the installation in order for the new drivers to take effect.
- Run the installation routine on all of the computers that will be using your modeling software.
- Restart each computer for the changes to take effect.
- You can verify that the drivers were installed correctly by going to add or remove programs and checking for "Sentinel System Driver Installer"
STEP 2:
Installing the lock itself
Connect the lock to the USB port on your computer. Windows should recognize the new hardware found if the drivers have been installed correctly.
Action:
Attach the hardware lock to the USB port of your personal computer.
STEP 3:
Verify the Installation using the Registration Wizard
The Registration Wizard automatically enables your modeling package. It will search for your hardware lock and the associated drivers. Once they have been found, your software is configured to work according to the modules that you purchased.
Action:
- Start the XMS software.
- If the Registration Wizard doesn't appear, go to Help | Register.
- Click the Change Registration button.
- Select "Hardware lock" for the Licensing method, then select "Next >"
- Select "Get license from a single user lock.", then select "Next >" again.
- Select "Finish".
TROUBLESHOOTING
Below is a list of a few things to check if your USB single user hardware lock is not working:
- Is your lock programmed for the same version as the software you are trying to enable?
- Hardware locks for XMS software are version specific. They will only enable the version for which they were programmed. If you have been issued a code to reburn your existing hardware lock click here. If you are upgrading to a new version of the software but have not received a code to reburn your hardware lock, please contact Aquaveo sales. If you don't know what version your lock is programmed for, skip this step for now.
- Was the hardware lock attached to the machine while the hardware lock drivers were being installed?
- If they were, the lock will need to be removed from the machine, and the hardware lock drivers will need to be reinstalled with the lock detached from the machine.
- Are the Drivers installed correctly on the computer?
- You can verify this by going to Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs and look for "Sentinel Protection Installer". If there are multiple Sentinel items found on this list, remove all but the latest version installed.
- Drivers can be found here.
- Is Windows recognizing the hardware lock?
- Make sure your lock is plugged into your computer. Then go to Control Panel | System | Hardware Tab | Device Manager. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers option and look for "SafeNet USB SuperPro/UltraPro." If this has a yellow caution sign on it, your drivers are not installed properly and should be reinstalled.
- Is there a conflicting netenble.001 file?
- In the directory in which you installed the XMS software, check for a file called netenble.001.
- If there is a netenble.001 file, delete this file. It is used with network locks and not with single user locks.
- Have you ever used a password to enable the XMS software?
- If yes, then the password may be blocking the XMS software from detecting the hardware lock.
Password files in GMS 7.1:
- Go to Start | Run and type "regedit"
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | EMRL
- You should see an entry called gmspassword71
- Delete or rename it to something like 123gmspassword71 (that way if you need it again in the future you can recover it)
Password files in SMS 10.1:
- Go to Start | Run and type "regedit"
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | EMRL
- You should see an entry called smspassword101
- Delete or rename it to something like 123smspassword101 (that way if you need it again in the future you can recover it)
Password files in WMS 8.4:
- Go to Start | Run and type "regedit"
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | EMRL
- You should see an entry called wmspassword84
- Delete or rename it to something like 123wmspassword84 (that way if you need it again in the future you can recover it)
Password files in AHGW 2.4:
- Go to Start | Run and type "regedit"
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | EMRL
- You should see an entry called ahgwpassword
- Delete or rename it to something like 123ahgwpassword24 (that way if you need it again in the future you can recover it)
